Tule House Project

"Outside Educators coordinated with the Math/Science Nucleus to build an Ohlone-style tule house at the Tule Ponds, Tyson Lagoon Wetland Center in Fremont. High school students, who needed community service hours, and volunteers helped with the gathering of the materials and the construction of the tule house."

We rehydrated the tules that were previously gathered. On August 6, 2005, the third layer of tule thatching was completed. This work crew was much more efficient in coordinating their work efforts and were able to add half of the fourth layer of tule thatching to the house.
